About the Exercise Equipment Expert

My name is Bret Spottke (the face and founder of the Exercise Equipment Expert) and I run this website along with my wife Grechen in Minneapolis, MN.

We’ve been intimately involved in the fitness industry for a combined 30 years in many areas including:

• owning a personal training studio
• operating health and fitness websites
• competing in bodybuilding and fitness competitions
• personal training at health clubs
• working at nutrition stores

In other words, we know our way around the industry and decided to pass along our knowledge to help you take the guesswork out of shopping for your own exercise equipment.

Each of us has a National Personal Training Certification under our belt with mine being from the American Council on Exercise (ACE)…

and Grechen’s from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM)…

Grechen likes to tease me by saying that her certification from NASM is “more impressive” and “harder to get” than my ACE certification. While that may be true I’ll never admit that to her.

Anyway, I got mine first, so there!
