Bowflex 5 Series Treadmill

The Bowflex Series 5 Treadmill is the mid-level offering from Bowflex between the Bowflex 3 Series, and Bowflex 7 Series treadmill.

If you read my review of the Bowflex 3 Series treadmill you’ll know I’m not the biggest fan of that machine, but the Series 5 makes some improvements over it that warrant a second look at this treadmill.

The 3 series and 5 series treadmills share a lot of common components and features including the same frame and treadbelt, but the 5 series jacks up the horsepower by a whopping 42%.

If you’re going to be running on this treadmill, the increase from 1.75 hp on the series 3, to the 2.5 hp on the series 5 will make a noticeable difference in how this machine will perform.

Key features of the Bowflex Series 5 Treadmill:

  • Folding system for easy storage with the SoftDrop declining position
  • 20″ x 60″ live running area w/ a 1-ply belt
  • 2.5 HP Continuous Motor
  • 4 window LED display w/ 6 workout programs
  • Strike Zoneā„¢ deck cushioning
  • 12 programs, including 1 HRC, 2 user-defined

Another noticeable improvement in the 5 series is the spacious live running are of 20″ x 60″ which is among the largest running surface you’ll find on a treadmill at any price.

The series 5 also offers more built-in workout programs including one heart rate controlled (but you have to use the hand grips to check your pulse which isn’t accurate or convenient in my opinion) and the quick speed and incline keys to change your workout settings at the touch of a button (nice touch that saves time and hassles).

The Bowflex 5 Series Treadmill is worth consideration if you’re a runner (or over 200 pounds) but the truth is, the Bowflex 7 Series is only a couple hundred bucks more and worth the extra investment in my opinion…
