Freemotion Smith Machine
The Freemotion r31 Smith Machine is another smith system sold through the discount retailer Costco and is comparable to the Marcy Smith Machine.
The Freemotion 31 is another attempt to make a smith machine that looks good at first glance, but when you dig a little bit deeper, it becomes glaringly obvious that there are some serious issues with this smith machine that should make you cringe in fear, and put you wallet back in you pants.
The Freemotion r31 is NOT any better of a smith machine than the comparable Marcy Smith Machine, and the surprising thing is, it costs as much as $200 more! Can you believe that?…
Freemotion Smith Machine Key Features and Specs:
- chrome guide tubes combined with precision grouped 1”chrome guide rods
- 4” nylon pulleys with ball bearings
- 7-degree slant design frame
- 150 lb. weight capacity on leg developer
- 150 lb. weight capacity on the weight carriage
Although the Freemotion r31 smith machine uses linear bearings (poor quality one’s at that), the maximum user weight capacity is a tiny 150 pounds which is the worst I’ve come across is the many years I’ve been reviewing equipment.
If you’re looking for the best smith machine that’s under $1000, cross the Freemotion r31 Smith Machine off your list immediately… and check here for budget friendly smith machines.
