The Golds Gym Smith Machine is another telling tale of a once all powerful fitness brand name that’s completely sold out and will put their name on anything to make a buck.
I’m sure Gold’s licensed out the their name to some cut rate manufacturer to have these smith machines made in a Chinese sweatshop (speculation)…
When you look at the specs on this smith it looks appealing. I mean you get the whole shooting match for about half of what you’d pay for a nice machine from Bodycraft, Body Solid, Powertec or Deltech…
Golds Gym Smith Machine Specs

- Four-post cage design
- Weight crutches
- Six-roll leg developer
- Two swivel high pulleys and one low pulley
- Preacher pad
- Chest fly
- Curl yoke

Well looks can be deceiving my friend. The Golds Smith falls short of greatness by cutting corners on build quality in favor of loading on unnecessary attachments like a pecdec, a leg developer on the weight bench and rinky dink weight stack.
Look, if you’re in the market for a smith machine and you can only invest about $800 bucks, take a look at the used market and get a better machine as this thing will lose 50% of its’ value the minute you put it together.
P.S. For the love of God stop buying your exercise equipment at Walmart and Sams Club!
