Bowflex Treadclimber, Tread Climber Review
Have you seen the new Tread Climber infommercial? So did I, so I decided to do some digging around and give you my take on the newest fitness gadget. The Treadclimber comes in three models - the Treadclimber tc1000, Treadclimber tc3000 and the Treadclimber tc5000.
The Bowflex Treadclimber isn't exactly a treadmill. It's more of a cross between a treadmill and a stair stepper.
There's no way to run on it, but that's not the intended use anyway. The Bowflex Treadclimber was designed to break the mold of traditional home exercise equipment and provide an effective, low impact workout from a machine that won't take up a whole room of you home like a large treadmill can.
How the Tread Climber Works
The Treadclimber is one part stair climber, and one part treadmill. You walk on the treads of the machine (similar to a treadmill) while the treads pivot up and down - kind of like you are walking up a flight of stairs.
This motion provides almost zero impact, and is very similar to walking in most respects, as the top speed on any of the 4 Treadclimber models is only 4.5 mph.
Bowflex claims that the Treadclimber burns calories twice as fast as a treadmill, which from what I've seen on their website appears to be true (University tested) but Bowflex never says how the Treadclimber matches up against an elliptical trainer or exercise bike, so I'd be interested in knowing the results of that comparison.
With that said, the Treadclimber is a unique alternative to a traditional treadmill and will make a nice addition to any home gym where space is at a premium and you have no need to run.
(If you plan on running, skip the Treadclimber and get the best folding treadmill on the market instead)
Treadclimber Review Bottom Line
The Bowflex Treadclimber is a well built machine with a strong warranty with guaranteed results. The machine has even been University tested as to its' effectiveness.
But the question still remains, "Is the Treadclimber a viable alternative to a treadmill, or should you invest your money elsewhere?"
The answer to that question isn't a simple yes or no. The answer is, it depends.
It depends on what kind of results you're expecting the machine to deliver.
