Precor 956i Treadmill

Even though I don't recommend the Precor 956 treadmill, let me tell you some information about this machine in case you're looking at buying a used 956 online because this is a commercial treadmill and not intended for the home retail market.

The Precor 956 Treadmill is about as serious a machine as you're likely to come across in the treadmill market. It ranks right up there with top level offerings from Landice, Pacemaster, Life Fitness and Bodyguard.

The major drawback to the 956 treadmill is that it's designed for the commercial market, and you can only buy one from a licensed Precor dealer - you'll also pay through the nose for the privilege.

There's a lot to like about the Precor 956 treadmill including:

  • Ground effects impact control system
  • 0 - 15% incline ramp
  • Biofeedback center
  • 26 workout programs
  • 4.0 hp commercial motor
  • Integrated footplant technology
  • Large 60" x 20" live running area

You sure get a lot for your money with the Precor 956, the problem is, this machine is made with the sole intent of being used an abused in the commercial health club environment and is overkill for a casual home fitness user.

For example, the speed on this treadmill goes all the way up to 16 mph! That's insanely fast, unless of course your name is Carl Lewis and you're training to make a comeback on the 100 meters at the next Olympic Games!

Listen, I could go on and on about how good the Precor 956 treadmill is, and also why I don't think you should buy one (unless you own a club that is) but some of you just won't be satisfied unless you own one of the best treadmills currently manufactured.
