Question
Weider 4900 Gym
I have an option to buy a Weider Pro 4900 slightly used for $50. I see your reviews are not very flattering for Weider equip. I am looking for versatility and for a basic toning muscle building workout, ease of weight changes. I am 55 and recovering from years of muscle atrophy now that I am in remission and need a home gym to help build a little muscle.
Answer
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I think the cheap home gyms from Weider, Marcy, Impex and the never ending supply of knockoff manufacturers are a total waste of money - like most things in life you get what you pay for – If the Weider 4900 for $50 bucks is all you can afford, save up your money for a quality home gym and start doing some body weight exercises like push ups, pull ups and calisthenics.
Better yet, get the Bodylastics TO (Terrell Owens) Edition home gym that kicks the snot out of anything made by Weider (and it’s under $100) or a body weight home gym like the TRX for under $200, or at the very least a set of dumbbells. Sorry to be so harsh, but you did ask!

I had a Weider C4800 home gym for years. I used it every weekday morning and rested on weekends. I loved it and hated to sell it when we moved to a smaller place. It was a big part of my life. I went from 6’2″, 155 pounds to 195 pounds, and the weight gain was muscle. I would highly recommend the C4800. I am looking for another Weider gym on Craigslist that might fit in one of the bedrooms. I’m wondering if you’ll post this, since I disagree with you on Weider gyms.
